Missing Persian Cat - near Hennur Rd

x-posted also at http://catsofbangalore.blogspot.com

I just recd a mail from Kishore and have pasted the entire email below.

Hi,

I had a 5 year old persian cat, Maya, with tortoise shell coat. She is very adorable, peaceful and extremely friendly with people. I live near Hennur road and in gated community. Due to gated living the cat was an outdoor cat, and was neutered couple of years back. Since Deepavali day, the cat has not come home to eat its regular food and she is not seen in the neighborhood. My neighbors and the colony people are probably missing her as much as i do. She used to come with me for walks and was staring in the face of pet dogs as well as the strays without any fear.

Now if you by any chance come across this one, please do let me know. I suspect that she is stolen by someone as i did not see any body of hers. Moreover she is used to only one type of food and does not eat any other food unless she is in distress or lack of availability of this food. The food type she loves is Fit32 from Royal Canin. My heart aches to think of what might have happened to her. Please do let me know if you have any hint or if you get it by chance to your shelter. Thanks.

Regards

Kishore

Kishore also says:

She responds very well to the call "Maayaaaa" One needs to elongate the "yaaaa" part of Maya. She just goes to anyone who calls her by her name even if she is lazing around.

Stray pups - how to get them adopted.

Remember the pups from Koramangala and Shama's Patchy Pups? I have been thinking that these pups dont get adopted as successfully or quickly as they should. People complain about street dogs, but we should not forget that the pups become the street dogs everyone is afraid of...not to mention hate and loathe.

The pups are blank slates. They can be trained and become wonderful home pets. They come with minimal trauma from the streets and because they are pariah dogs, they are usually very strong. Yet, we find very few pariah pups being adopted. Often they die after being run over in the streets or die from malnutrition before someone can come for them.

I know that there are people out there who would like to adopt these pups just as there are kind people who take to their home abandoned pets that have pedigree. But how do we achieve this task? How do we bring these the pup and it's prospective owner together? Afterall, that was the purpose of this blog when we started. Sometimes, I wonder if we have failed those who need us most? I dont know...I think we are not seeing something we should be to get these pups homes. I just dont know what to do about it or how to go about it?

Should we put up more information about how to register pets. More details re raising pups so that people dont get intimidated or confused? Also about sterilisation so that girl pups are also adopted.

Ideas, people?

Pearl and Jaguar

An extract from the mail we received with the pictures of these adorable pooches:
"This has been the most difficult decision for me to make till date, however its time for me accept the fact that my house is too small for Pearl & Jaguar. Pearl & Jaguar were born on 19th April 2007 & I got them home on 3rd June, 2007 and now they are 7 month old. They always loved playing with each other & loves to fetch the ball each time we throw it and they can play for hrs. Both are a sweet heart and very friendly by nature. Pearl has grey eyes & pink nose he is very cute, do not go on his looks he is very naughty & needs lots of attention he gets anoid very fast that's why we some time call him angry young man. The best thing about him is that he is very loving you can't resist yourself from pampering him, he has this eyes which speaks thousand words and I will miss them a lot. Jaguar is very sober in nature, he loves getting pampered and never gets enough of it. Jaguar most of the time losses to Pear on the ball fetching game, but there are days when he would be in form and would not let pearl to fetch the ball even once. Jaguar lets Pearl dominate him, that makes him very sweet brother. They both are vaccinated and were trained for about a month. Both are fawn in color. I would like to give them to some one who would love them unconditionally & who would adopt both of them together, as it would be very difficult for them to be without each other. Some one who has sufficient place for them to run around and play. They are one of the best thing that has ever happened to me and I am sure the lucky one who will have them will agree to me."
Please email us at adoptstrays@gmail.com if you wish to adopt them together.
