Nemo's progress

Hi Folks

Nemo the Pug is now slightly mobile and possibly on his way to greater independence. Thanks to Jellicles for making it happen!

Here he is trying out his new wheels.

Three pups up for adoption!!!

We got three pups that are ready to come to your home!

This boy is extremely sweet..(see proof above)

This is 'Tommy'. He is scared of people and was possibly abused. He is only three months old and it is possible that he might have experienced ill treatment at the hands of some very mean people. But he will come closer and give you a gentle nudge once he has figured out that you wont hurt him. He is just waiting to blossom into a handsome young fellow and the best companion anyone can have...Can someone please give him a safe home?

This one is adorable! Those soulful eyes! Enough said! You know you want this darling snoozing and cuddling with you!

Of course, we will help with any information about the vaccination/sterilisation and the registration...not to mention care and training. They are still pups and can be better than any breed of dog money can buy. Of course, they dont need training to be cute or to be your best friend.

I want to add one more thing. Achala, the girl who is trying to get these pups into good homes is a communications/media student. She has decided that her final project will be about animal welfare and specifically about the plight of the stray dogs on our streets. You can read more about it here at her blog. If you have any suggestions, please let her know.

Another call for suggestions, please?

p.s. i have added a new page element on the sidebar called 'tags of interest'.

the "adopted" link leads to the strays/abandoned pets who have been adopted. i know a lot more dogs and cats were adopted. if i had missed any of them, please send us a mail to adoptstrays at gmail dot com so i can add it to the list. of course, it would be awesome if you can give us an update with pictures!

Can you take in a Miracle?

MIRACLE is 3 yrs old, Golden ,Male Cocker Spaniel.
Neutered at the age of 2 yrs,Miracle is a over enthusiastically loving dog and highly playful.

Miracle was our baby from 6 weeks of age and had to be rehomed at 2 yrs of age becasue of us having to move to Ireland. Ireland has a 6 months solitary quarantine for animals coming in and therefore, Miracle was given to a family of three...a young couple and their 4 yrs old Golden retriever , Tequila. Tequila & Miracle took a few weeks fo acclimatise, as Miracle does get a liitle worried when he sees a big dog. They became best of friends very soon and Miracle often goes to her with his ball or stuffed toy and paws her to play.

The couple Mekhna & Ganesh have now been asked to relocate to USA for a brief period in a Business Development role with fair amount of travelling. Tequila will be left with Mekhna's parents in Bangalore.
Miracle, needs a new Home ! Please help.

Miracle is a great dog,BUT has some problems since he was a puppy. He often goes and sits under a piece of furniture or in a corner & growls if someone tries to go near. He can be aggressive & has nipped if people try to force him or invade his space. (strangely, he will never do anything to a stranger except growl and try to move back , all nips in 3 yrs have been to family members as i guess he is not too scared of them)

These are what we call Mood Swings and both Mekhna & Me having had him for 3 yrs of his life feel that these cant be explained, there is no rational for them and they stem from a deep fear. There are many days when he has absolutely normal & fabulous. No mood swing, but once in a month he goes & sits in a corner and we know he is not doing so well.Even, he cant understand it , i guess because he tells everyone stay away by his behaviour and if he nips, he is most apologetic immediately after that, as if to say I told you to stay away.

Miracle never goes out aggressively to anyone. It is always when he feels threatened.( so, combing his hair etc are things he wont allow)

(baby Miracle!)

We have found that he is a dog who likes his space and is best in a spacious house rather than apartments.Miracle feels threatened by kids but loves Maids & is usually the most enthusiastic snowball that will greet you when you return home.

He is kinky and yet so loving and so adorable that you would think there isnt a more affectionate dog in the world.

Miracle has his problems and they can be an issue, but for both Mekhna & me who have kept him ,love him despite it all, beacuse Miracle is such a Unique Spicey personality that you cant not love him.

And ...he is only a dog...he is not responsible for his faults...it has to be a genetic fault. I've heard of many a golden Male cockers with similar traits...it's us humans and our inbreeding for beauty that is responsible. How can we punish him for something he has no control on?

We are looking for a home that loves dogs...but doesnt mollycoddle them. A home with other dogs & space...for people who understand dogs and know how to handle them..not for first time pet owners...a home for our most unlucky Miracle who in 3 yrs of his life has changed 3 hands already.

Regds,
Sangita.

Anand Chhaaaya needs your help!

Deccan Herald article about Anand Chhaaya:

x-posted from AnandChhaaya Blog.

We cant possibly take photographs of all the dogs at AnandChhaaya, so we encourage everyone to visit the shelter. If anyone wants to adopt any of the dogs from there..the old, the pups or just that one dog which calls out to you, please leave a comment. We can help to arrange for you to adopt from AnandChhaaya.

If that's not possible at the moment, please donate as much as you can.

Or you can sponsor a day's feeding at the shelter. It doesnt cost much. Freshly cooked meals are more nutritious and cheaper than commercial pet food. If you wish to cook them yourself, leave a comment here. Sushruta can co-ordinate with you re the dates and quantities. I have posted some recipes for homecooked dog meals here. Sushruta has some recipe templates too.

Two or three friends can join together and sponsor a day's meal. Maybe its your child's birthday or your parent's wedding aniv or a day when you are honouring your ancestors or simply a special day you are celebrating...give them the gift of knowing that animals in need are being helped.

If you'd still like to do something, here is a list of items that AnandChhaaya needs.

Group sponsoring meals or collecting the essential items they need at a shelter is a great project for schools/colleges too.

Corporate sponsoring is a great idea for the daily feeding or the sponsorship of vaccinations/medicines etc. If you know someone who will be interested or if a bunch of you at work want to get together for such a project, please leave a comment here so we can design a plan of action for that.

Of course, please spread the word!

So much is possible even if everyone of us have only a little to contribute.
